Motive Hits Strategic CPE Milestone
Home Device Manager Product Interoperable with Majority of CPE Market
AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 17, 2005 -
Advancing its Digital Home Management strategy, Motive, Inc. today announced that a majority of the market for customer premises equipment (CPE) is now interoperable with the joint Motive-Alcatel device management product, Home Device Manager. These vendors include both device and semiconductor providers such as Actiontec, Analog Devices, Broadcom, Conexant, Jungo, Linksys, Netopia, Philips, Siemens, SMC Networks, Texas Instruments, Thomson, Westell and ZyXEL Communications.
Interoperability with Motive’s software allows these vendors to meet the growing demand for management automation in the digital home, supporting such processes as zero-touch CD-less device activation, Web-based service registration and configuration, service policy management, as well as self-support and service upgrades.
As a result, service providers using Motive’s software to deploy and manage their next-generation triple play service offerings will have greater flexibility and lower risk associated with deploying and supporting multiple types of CPE.
“Service providers are requiring vendors to prove interoperability with today’s standards so that providers can quickly deploy new services without the risk of proprietary solutions,” said Kenny Van Zant, Motive's executive vice president of marketing. “Working with more than 40 CPE, Motive has supported interoperability requirements for several years. Now that the DSL industry has come together to drive true TR-069 interoperability, Motive continues to demonstrate our leadership in this area.”

About the MotiveSmart™ Verification Program
The MotiveSmart Verification Program uses standards verification testing to enable partners to rapidly develop, market and sell CPE that leverages Motive’s industry leading service management products. These products represent world-class solutions for broadband service providers that are bringing new digital home services to market. Motive’s unique approach to device testing begins by testing baseline interoperability of CPE with industry standards such as UPnP, SNMP and the DSL Forum's TR-069, TR-064 and TR-104. The program then builds on that foundation to ensure that Motive and its partners can support the real needs of broadband service providers all over the world.
