Our History

Motive has been a leader in device and service management technology since it was founded nearly three decades ago. From the start, our commitment has been to deliver exceptional solutions to our customers, so they can enable and manage the devices that power our homes, our businesses, and our lives.

1997
Motive Software was founded with the goal of automating device configuration, maintenance, and upgrade tasks to unburden operational staff and end-users.
2008
After working together to develop and market remote management solutions for residential gateways, Motive is acquired by Alcatel-Lucent, a multinational telecommunications equipment company.
2016
Alcatel-Lucent and Motive were purchased by Nokia in 2016. Motive’s solutions were integrated into Nokia’s product portfolio targeted at telecommunications service providers around the globe.
2024
Motive was carved out of Nokia by Lumine Group. Lumine revived the heritage Motive brand to create a new stand-alone Lumine company focused on delivering device and service management solutions to broadband, mobile, and IOT network service providers.
